We enjoyed our stay at the Melia. Service was very good, staff friendly and setting was beautiful. Buffet food was good. We had reservations for the nicer restaurant one evening and it was excellent plated meal. Would recommend making reservations as soon as you arrive at hotel.

Hubby and I stayed for 6 nights first week of July. Hotel is very clean and the room was great. There were MANY kids and some with very little supervision, even to the point of licking food and putting it back on buffet line. Had to wait behind many kids even at the bars (day and night). Once we said we would not buy the vacation club on the very first day, service dropped to almost nothing. The food was terrible!!!! Could not get a reservation for better restaurant due to much run around about rules of making reservations. Travel agent liked to leave before noon so there was not much help there either. PV is amazing and we will go back. Hotel forcing us to eat out so much (even eith the all inclusive plan) was actually a blessing in disguise. Don miss the pirate ship at night and Rythm of the Nights tour. Both are very worth it. Also check out the Cuban club on the "boardwalk". Spend as little time at the hotel as possible if you want a good trip...or stay on the other end of the island. Finally, don't buy the transports. The cabs are much cheaper and you can work on your own time and not some travel agent. Avoid the vacation club presentations in the airport, in your hotel and everywhere else you go. We did get a good free tour and a discount on a massage but it was not worth the 4 hours we were stuck there in sales hell.

My husband and I were here 8 days and our first time in Mexico. I tell everyone stay at a Melia wherever there is one. Rooms service food and staff were all tops! Thanks to XYZ at front desk at night we got our camera back from cab driver 2 hrs. later. The vacation club staff ABC we miss you already and the rest of staff too! LMN keep smiling and making those trips to San Diego! When we arrived we were greeted by front desk and everything went smoothly and quickly. Was surprised to find no coffee maker in room but when we called and asked they brought one right up. Drinks were always stocked and cold in our refrigerator. Housekeeping always did a good job. When we left the room and came back each day it was always decorated differently. We felt safe at this resort at all times. If you have children they always have things for the kids to do. The shows at night were awesome too! We will go back to Melia Puerto Vallarta again!

This is my second time in PV...First time in this hotel...The staff is very friendly and attentive The grounds are very clean and beautiful. The beach is small nothing special..but the above ground sand beach gives a great view of the ocean and is very nice the pool area is spacious...Lots of children but i went during cinco de mayo and school was out. Food is average...you will be full but dont expect 4 star!!....The dance shows were really nice both shows i saw were well thought out and enjoyable..Now my major complaint..the front desk night manager is a very rude and ignorant person...and i think his attitude was racially motivated- I was told incorrect information and when i questioned it he was rude and inconsiderate putting a damper on our vacation and im pursuing it via their corporate office..So if you are looking for reliable and customer friendly management to handle issues that may occur..think again before booking here.

This was our second time at this hotel. Last time was April 2007. My wife and I together with our sons, now ages 13 and 10 went on this trip. The rerervations desk ensured that we had connecting rooms, I appreciate that. I doubt will will return to this hotel. The food has gone downhill. The first night we went to LaPalapa. My son's steak was totally raw and when I brought that to the waiter's attention his did not care. I actually had to bring him the entree because he never returned to ask how it was. The nicer Italian restaturant was awful. The service was pretty bad too. There were screaming kids near us and the parents and the rastaurant staff did not care. The mexican restaurant was acceptable but thats it. The evening buffet was OK but more quantity and little quality. The same for lunch and breakfast. The rooms show wear. There were lights not working in one room. In the other room the dead bolt bar was missing. The elevators were awful. I will look at other hotels before going here. Activites were geared to kids 5 and under and older kids. One day they had an open age ping pong contest. They paired my 10 year old with a 20 year old that spent most of his time flirting with the girls running the activity. When he saw his first opponent was a 10 year old his response was awesome. When I asked P (Activities person) to try and do something about she said that is the way it is. That is a bad answer and I was very annoyed. She should not be working there.
